INTRODUCTION

HIPAA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act HIPAA was enacted by the U.S. Congress in 1996 , and became effective July 1 , 1997. This act is a grouping of regulations that work to combat waste, fraud, and abuse in health care delivery and health insurance . The intention of the HIPAA is also to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the health care system , portability and continuity of health insurance coverage in the group and individual markets , as well as the ability to provide consequences to those that do not apply with the regulations explicitly stated within the Act .

HL7 and its members provide a framework ( and related standards ) for the exchange , integration , sharing , and retrieval of electronic health information . These standards define how information is packaged and communicated from one party to another , setting the language , structure and data types required for seamless integration between systems .   • Each certification socam is composed of 70 multiple choice questions . The time allotted to answer questions for each exam is two hours


  • You may sit for the examin the following ways:
  • During testing sessions held at HL7 Working Group Meetings and Fucational Summits
  • Online procurent tenting from your own computer
  • HOST testing centers located around the world
  • Onsite testing hosted at your company


  • Please complete the certification application online to start the process . The application process is the same whether you take the exam in person or electronically at Kryterion testing centers or online .
  • Once payment is received , please allow 10 business days to process your application . At that time you will receive credentials to select the time , date and location of your exam 

What are the Costs ?

The cost to sit for a certification exam is $ 199 for HL7 members and $ 350 for non – members . Please refer to our Certification Test Policies for more information about payments .
